If you own a smartphone, tablet device, e-reader or anything else with Android technology then you might be interested to know that it won’t be long until you can watch your Blu-ray titles on it.

20th Century Fox’s upcoming Blu-ray Disc release of blockbuster Unstoppable is the first to come with functionality that will let consumers watch the movie on the go using their Android device. The studio plans to include the technology in all its major releases this year.

Simon Swart of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment said, “For the first time ever, our customers can now access their Blu-ray titles on their Android devices with the Blu-ray Digital Copy at no additional charge, anytime, anywhere!”

Users can copy the movie to their Android devices using BD Live and the PocketBlu Android application, which is available as a free download from the Android Market app store. To enjoy the benefits they will need their Blu-ray Disc, a wi-fi connected Blu-ray player and an Android device running version 1.6 or higher. They will also be able to copy extras like interviews and the Director’s commentary along with the full movie.

20th Century Fox this week held an event at the London Film Museum to celebrate the release of the Alien Anthology on Blu-ray Disc.

The Alien saga, which has been terrifying moviegoers for over 30 years, is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a comprehensive six-disc box set containing all four Alien films plus an incredible 60 hours of bonus content.

The set contains two HD versions of each of the four films – Alien, Aliens, Alien3 and Alien Resurrection – the theatrical cut, plus either a Director’s Cut or Special Edition. Of the 60 hours of additional content, four hours have never been released before, including an early screen test by series star and sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver. Also of note is MU-TH-UR Mode, a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive bonus materials in the entire set and puts them in the user’s hand – connecting fans to special features on all six discs and instantly providing an index of all available Alien content.

The Alien Anthology is available on Blu-ray Disc now. To read more information and see photos from the event in London, head over to Obsessed With Film.

The Avatar juggernaut rumbles on with confirmation from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE) that the film has become the biggest selling Blu-ray title ever in the UK.

In the two weeks since launch, 505,057 copies of Avatar on Blu-ray Disc have been sold – beating the all-time Blu-ray Disc record of 490,633 held by The Dark Knight and breaking the half a million milestone.

“Blu-ray is the ultimate way for fans to enjoy Avatar at home and experience Pandora in all its awe-inspiring clarity in high definition” commented Steven Leighton, SVP Northern Europe and Asia Pacific for TCFHE.  “It’s no surprise that viewers are choosing to own Avatar on Blu-ray and with 22.2% of our overall sales to date this clearly demonstrates that UK consumers are embracing Blu-ray as the format of choice.”
