20th Century Fox this week held an event at the London Film Museum to celebrate the release of the Alien Anthology on Blu-ray Disc.

The Alien saga, which has been terrifying moviegoers for over 30 years, is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a comprehensive six-disc box set containing all four Alien films plus an incredible 60 hours of bonus content.

The set contains two HD versions of each of the four films – Alien, Aliens, Alien3 and Alien Resurrection – the theatrical cut, plus either a Director’s Cut or Special Edition. Of the 60 hours of additional content, four hours have never been released before, including an early screen test by series star and sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver. Also of note is MU-TH-UR Mode, a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive bonus materials in the entire set and puts them in the user’s hand – connecting fans to special features on all six discs and instantly providing an index of all available Alien content.

The Alien Anthology is available on Blu-ray Disc now. To read more information and see photos from the event in London, head over to Obsessed With Film.

Alien_Anthology_Blu-ray_BoxSince the launch of the Blu-ray format, fans have been waiting for 20th Century Fox to release the Alien Quadrilogy box set in high definition. But now the wait is almost over, after Fox confirmed a release date of 26th October.

According to Fox, the four Alien films have been “reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience.” The box set includes two versions of each film and over four hours of previously unreleased, exclusive material such as Sigourney Weaver’s original screentests for Alien, unseen deleted scenes, thousands of still photographs from the Fox archives and the previously unobtainable original cut of “Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3.”

It also takes advantage of Blu-ray technology by incorporating the MU-TH-UR Mode, an interactive feature that lets you access the special features on all six discs and provides an index of all available content.

In all, the box set contains a whopping 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images, making it one of the most highly anticipated Blu-ray releases ever.
