Blu-ray Monday Giveaway: Kick-Ass

[tweetmeme source= “blurayreporter” only_single=false]

This week, despite being a day late due to the UK’s bank holiday, we’re giving away one of 2010’s hottest films so far, Matthew Vaughn’s tongue-in-cheek, superhero send-up Kick-Ass.

Based on the popular comic by Mark Millar, who also wrote Sin City and 300, Kick-Ass arrived in cinemas in spring to considerable critical acclaim. Telling the story of an ordinary teenager inspired to become a real-life superhero, Kick-Ass comes to Blu-ray Disc with an array of exclusive special content including BonusView video commentary and a high-definition, feature length making-of documentary.

As ever with Blu-ray Monday, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, simply retweet the following post on Twitter: Tweet this

Then for a second entry, leave a comment on this post letting us know which as-yet unadapted comic book or superhero you’d most like to next see in a movie. Are you looking forward to Captain America, Thor, or The Avengers, or are you still waiting for your favourite character to be picked up? Or, with reboots of characters such as Fantastic Four and Judge Dredd in the works, is there a hero or heroine you’d like to see have a second chance on the silver screen?

To make it easier for us to contact you, leave your Twitter details with your comment. As usual, we look forward to your suggestions!

The Books Of Magic. Fantastic series of graphic novels which totally lend themselves to film adaptation.

  3. 4 Paul Barber September 6, 2010 at 11:10 am

waiting for the new wonderwoman movie 😉

  4. 5 Stuart McKenzie September 6, 2010 at 10:56 am

Oh, forgot to mention – SuperGran from the eighties would make an interesting prospect too.

  5. 6 Stuart McKenzie September 6, 2010 at 10:55 am

Dangermouse surely deserves a mention, but then there have been LOADS of superhero movies that flopped, but COULD do well if treated right. Daredevil, Elektra & Punisher deserve special mention in this category. Plus, Lucas should revisit Howard The Duck.

    @DanielCake

I’d like to see Dandy make an appearance, but not as a main role – Just as an extra or some really small parts in big films.

  8. 9 Molly Louise September 5, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Captain Underpants for sure 🙂 @msmollylouise

  9. 10 Vanessa September 5, 2010 at 3:40 pm

I can’t believe they still haven’t got going with Wonder Woman. Maybe they’ll let Joss Whedon back on the project if The Avengers goes well.

I keep thinking how potentially amazing it could be to see the Preacher comic made into a film, if it was done well. Absolutely amazing books. I’d especially love to see Jessie and Cassidy on the big screen. Not sure who I’d choose to play them tho!

Here are two different ends of the spectrum:

    Jem would be fun

and from the graphic novel type:

    Death from N. Gaiman

Alot of the characters I like already have movies, which is awesome. Looking forward to the Avengers.
When I was little my brothers and I invented a superhero called the Husk, based on a hideous yellow shapeless toy I won at a fair. The toy could morph into this colossal HUSK or fur and fury, protecting the innocent. It is possible my brother invented the word Husk, but I think it invokes fear and respect.
Perhaps I will write a script.

Not strictly a super hero but Berk from The Trap Door was always a hero of mine when I was a nipper! Just imagine a new 3D imagining of Berk, Boni & Drutt on the big screen… Shame Willie Rushton is no longer around to voice it.

I’d love to see a WonderWoman movie (I know there’s a cartoon version out, but a ‘real life’ one would kick ass!) We need a female superhero film! For some reason, I could see Katy Perry playing the part if she could work on a tough, kick-ass exterior lol.

  33. 36 Lucy September 1, 2010 at 5:48 am

I’m torn because there is part of me that would love to see my dad’s excitement when a Captain America film is released but I’m really not sure that I want to hear about it EVERY single time I talk to him. And then there’s the Green Lantern…….

  34. 37 Raelene graham September 1, 2010 at 12:57 am

  35. 38 Tania M August 31, 2010 at 11:52 pm

    Arsenic and Old Lace!
Gertrude Yorke and her psychic connection to her pet dinosaur were my first introduction to comic books and they opened my mind to the strange, odd and unexplained!

    @CarolineAGale

  39. 43 Lora August 31, 2010 at 6:29 pm

They repeated Super Gran at some point when I was a kid and I loved the idea of having a super Scottish granny! I think she’s long overdue a comeback. The only other superheroes I remember watching were the Power Rangers and that’s only because it was on before the cartoon I wanted to watch!

  40. 44 Sam August 31, 2010 at 6:27 pm

I definately agree with bananaman I used to love it when I was a kid! And maybe superted and spotty as a kiddies film lol

  41. 45 Nadia August 31, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I’m waiting with baited breath for The Avengers – I really hope it lives up to expectations *fingers crossed*

I’d also quite like to see The Limping Bandit made into a film.

..ok, he’s not a real comic book hero, but my dad used to make up stories about him when I was a kid 😛

    @soulmate02

  42. 46 Laura Hadland August 31, 2010 at 6:02 pm

A Bananaman movie would be epic. Truly epic. If you’re in a very particular age range anyway.

“Every time Eric eats a banana, an amazing transformation occurs…”

  43. 48 Ennio morry August 31, 2010 at 6:01 pm

    Captain America, please!

  44. 49 mel butcher August 31, 2010 at 6:01 pm

  45. 50 mel butcher August 31, 2010 at 6:00 pm

  47. 52 Jamie Speakman August 31, 2010 at 5:47 pm

can’t wait for the second coming of dredd – if the helmet stays on and karl urban can be sufficiently grumpy it could banish all those sly stallone nightmares

  48. 53 Masoud August 31, 2010 at 5:45 pm

I can’t wait for the Avengers honestly! Also, maybe a new Hulk movie???

  49. 54 Raul - @Vengeful_ August 31, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I really can’t say there’s any superhero I’ve been waiting to see on the silver screen. Between Batman, Wolverine, the Hulk, and now Captain America those are the only superheroes I loved as a kid.

I am looking forward to Thor and up until now I had no idea another Judge Dredd was in the works. I’ll have to do some googling after this post!

Actually I would have loved for the silver surfer to have had his own movie. The horrible fantastic four movie didn’t do any justice to the character.

  50. 55 Jade August 31, 2010 at 5:38 pm

I’d like to see a rehash of He-Man Masters Of The Universe, set totally in Eternia though – none of this coming to Earth and hanging out with Courtney Cox lark.

And if She-Ra and her hot friends could come along for the ride then game on!

I think a hot new cast possibly with Channing Tatum as the man himself, and some Avatar style effects could make for a really amazing movie!

    Cheeee-aaarrrrs!
