Whatever happens, don’t pick up the phone…

With Scream 4 slashing its way back to the box office this summer, Lionsgate has announced timely plans to bring the original trio of films to life on Blu-ray Disc from April.

A genre re-defining take on the classic ‘whodunnit’ narrative, ‘Scream’ rewrote the rule book for teen horror movies in the 90s, catapulting its fledgling cast, including Neve Campbell, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich, to fame and fortune.

Packaging in as much humour as horror, all three films from Wes Craven follow Sidney Prescott (Campbell) as she fights her way through a variety of attempts against her life from a killer wearing a mask inspired by Edvard Munch’s infamous ‘The Scream’ painting.

Bonus material for all the BDs includes audio commentary from Craven, while ‘Scream’ has a production featurette, Q&A with the cast and bonus feature ‘On the set of Scream with Drew Barrymore’. ‘Scream 2’ will feature bonus material including deleted scenes, with optional commentary from Craven and numerous outtakes, while ‘Scream 3’ has an alternative ending and a behind the scenes montage.

The stylish suits, the three martini lunches, the insatiable appetite for 60s glamour.

All of these are of course the unmistakable hallmarks of hit TV show Mad Men, which will see its fourth series come to Blu-ray Disc throughout Europe from March 21st. Back in January we brought you news that series three of the smouldering drama went onto become the UK’s third bestselling BD of 2010, so there are high hopes for the latest instalment.

Successful and charming ad director Don Draper (Jon Hamm) must once again navigate his client’s success in the crowded consumerist world of 1960s America. Supported by loyal copy writer Peggy (Elizabeth Moss) busty office manager Joan (Christina Hendricks) and slimy executive Pete (Vincent Kartheiser), Don tries to balance his high pressured job with his rapidly eroding family life.

Lionsgate has so far confirmed that the bonus material will include featurette ‘How to Succeed in Business Draper Style’, a three-part documentary named ‘Divorce: Circa 1960’s’, and commentary from executive producers, cast and crew.

The Hurt Locker becomes Lions Gate’s fastest-selling Blu-ray title to date

Kathryn Bigelow’s critically acclaimed The Hurt Locker, nominated for nine Academy Awards and already the recipient of six BAFTA awards, has continued its phenomenal success by becoming Lions Gate Home Entertainment’s fastest selling title ever on Blu-ray Disc.

Since its release on BD and DVD in late December, The Hurt Locker has notched up total sales of 310,000 units, 85,000 of which are Blu-ray Disc sales. Marie-Claire Benson, Marketing Director, Lions Gate Home Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled with the current success of The Hurt Locker to date. We took the decision to continue to promote the title on account of all the nominations and awards it has been receiving. The combination of intense drama, critical acclaim and the exceptional coverage it is garnering, has translated into strong sales on both DVD and Blu-ray. We are particularly pleased with the Blu-ray results, which have accounted for at least 25% of total sales each week since release.”

In addition to its awards success, The Hurt Locker has been named in over 250 top ten lists for 2009 in the US and UK media and has been honoured at several film festivals. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal, The Hurt Locker stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Evangeline Lilly, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse and Guy Pearce.
