At IFA this year, 3D was a stand out theme, as the world’s largest home entertainment manufacturers showcased a variety of 3D products, from TVs and projectors to laptops and Blu-ray Disc players.

A 3D Blu-ray player already on the market is Sony’s BDP-S470, which represents great value at just £180. CNet UK has recently reviewed this model, awarding it an impressive 4.5/5.

A slim compact machine, CNet says the BDP-S470 is ‘visually appealing’ but not at the expense of the outputs provided.  The picture quality is also commended, with the reviewer stating that he ‘thoroughly loved the picture this player produced.’

As for its internet connectivity, it is deemed, ‘just right’, providing UK users with access to BBC iPlayer, Demand Five and Love Film through the Bravia Internet Video service.

Samsung previews 3D Blu-ray player with built-in Freeview HD

Samsung’s new 3D player with built-in Freeview HD has received a glowing review by Stuff Magazine, who got the chance to try it out before its release in May.

In addition to a built-in Freeview HD TV tuner, the BD-C8500M player has Wi-Fi on board to enable access to Samsung’s Internet@TV service, which supports BBC iPlayer and LoveFilm‘s instant movie rental service.  DLNA support is also provided, meaning the device can be connected with any other DNLA compliant services in the house.

As Stuff put it, ‘there’s a whole load more to this little black box than meets the eye.’ The entire review can be viewed on the Stuff website here.
