Monday Giveaway: The Social Network

[tweetmeme source= “blurayreporter” only_single=false]
Pitted against ‘The Kings Speech’ and ‘The Black Swan’ to take Best Movie at this year’s Oscars, we thought we’d start the week by giving away a copy of David Fincher’s, ‘The Social Network’.

In 2003 Harvard undergrad and computer programmer Mark Zuckerberg (Jessie Eisenberg) begins work on a new networking idea called Facebook. What begins as an experiment with friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) quickly snowballs into a modern revolution in communication, catapulting Zuckerberg into the limelight and making him the youngest billionaire in history.

Fincher’s film brilliantly portrays the real life story of Mark Zuckerberg’s creation which became a modern day phenomenon. From inspiring biopic films like Ali, Ray or Ghandi, to individual tales of struggle and endurance like Milk, Catch Me If You Can or 127 Hours, what is your favourite film based on a true story and why? Or perhaps you know of a real life story that you think should be told on the big screen? If so what is it and why do you think it would make a great movie?

Blu-ray Monday Giveaway: The Other Guys

[tweetmeme source= “blurayreporter” only_single=false]
With ‘Blue Monday’ officially being the most depressing day of the year, we think its only fitting to offer up a fantastic ‘Blu-ray Monday’ prize to help lighten the mood.

This week we are giving away a copy of action comedy, ‘The Other Guys’ starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

Nerdy detective Gamble (Ferrell) is more interested in pushing pencils than busting bad guys. Alongside hot-headed, trigger happy cop Hoitz (Wahlberg) the pair are forced to bask in the glory of their crime-fighting colleagues, Danson (Dwayne Johnson) and Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson). However when the time comes for Gamble and Hoitz to untangle a web of corporate greed, it turns out the other guys are the only guys for the job.

As usual with Blu-ray Monday, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, simply retweet the following post on Twitter: Tweet this

Then for a second entry, leave a comment on this post to the following question:

The Other Guys features an unlikely professional double act. Until now Wahlberg has typically tackled dramatic roles in films such as ‘The Departed’, ‘Three Kings’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’. Ferrell on the other hand is one of the worlds best loved comic actors taking on lead parts in ‘Elf’, ‘Old School’ and ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’. If you could choose two actors from different backgrounds to make an unlikely but interesting crime-fighting duo, who would you pick and why?

After seven years apart, the pair meet up with Kassie’s son, Sebastian (Thomas Robinson) leaving Wally with one daunting decision.

Then for a second entry, leave a comment on this post to the following question:

The Switch features up-and-coming child star Thomas Robinson, who steals many of the film’s best one-liners from his adult counterparts. Over the decades, performances from the likes of River Phoenix, Macualay Culkin, Dakota Fanning, and Drew Barrymore show that kids are more than capable of competing with the adult acting world. If you had to name your favourite child actor who would it be and why?
