In honour of those chosen by the Academy, this week’s Blu-ray Monday comes with an exciting twist! The winner can choose a copy of any 2011 Oscar winning film currently available on Blu-ray in the UK.
(Drum roll please…) This includes Toy Story 3 (Best Animation), Alice in Wonderland (Best Costume and Art Direction), Inception (Best Cinematography and Visual Effects), The Social Network (Best Adapted Screenplay) or The Wolfman (Best Makeup).
As usual with Blu-ray Monday, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, simply retweet the following post on Twitter: Tweet this

With ‘The Kings Speech’, and ‘Inception’ both winning big on the night, we’d like to know what you made of the Academy’s choices this year. Were the nominees spot on? Do you agree with the winners? Perhaps you think a certain film or fantastic performance was unfairly overlooked? Let us know your thoughts!
To make it easier for us to contact you, leave your Twitter details with your comment. We look forward to your suggestions!
I only saw Inception and it was fantastical. My daughter thought Black Swan was great but weird. I’d love to see all these movies.
i have to say I did agree with The King’s Speech winning the oscar but the outstanding performance in the film was definitely Jeffery Rush. he was amazing.
@medsdemon
Having seen both The Black Swan and The Kings Speech who were both worthy winners I regret that I never got to see Inception whos special effects seem amazing.
@daisyangel1
I loved the Oscars but I thought Social Network was overlooked. I also liked Country Strong. Overall the Oscars were great.
I’m just so glad to see the Kings Speech get the recognition it deserved after all the talk of boycotting it.
I think the awards were pretty accurate. I must say, the movies were a ‘strange’ assortment this year.
@SereneMoments
aah -i’m @humanb3an on twitter – sorry!
I think the Kings Speech picked up steam as the awards season went on so it wasn’t that much of a big surprise, although looking back, I think there’ll be some people that will always think Social Network would have been a more worthy and timely winner. Toy Story 3 however would have made history if it had won and that would have been a nice ending for a great trilogy. However, the acting awards were spot on
With 2 little ones at homes didn’t get to see most nominations other than Toy Story. Seemed right on to me even just based on history of work. Best actor and actress were long overdue for both actors. @Slappy2001
Loved Black Swan. Would love to win it! The Oscar show was boring but I couldn’t watch it until my husband left the room because he hates award shows.
I watched half of the movies that were nominated. Christian Bale is spot on – great performance.
I am not sure if Colin Firth IS that good (not saying he’s not), maybe this year not many good competitors out there.
Natalie Portman was great in Black Swan as well.
No real surprises, watch RED instead, now that was good 😀
@wombleloulou
I saw all 10 best picture nominees this year, and with the results of the Oscar’s, I thought the Academy was spot on with the winners.
I thought the show was a little flat. Just didn’t hold my interest, no big surprises. But I was so glad that Colin Firth won for The King’s Speech. What a great film and performance. Firth is one class act!
@Redlizzy1
I didn’t see any of the movies nominated. From people I have talked with all were excellent movies.
I tweeted also
@travelbuds
I love watching who wins,even tho u kind of know,it must be a fab feeling to win such an award and a feeling that u don’t come down from for a long time,oh well we can all dream to be like them,at least I have my blu rays to
look forward to lol
Oscars went pretty much as expected apart from Tom Hooper beating Fincher as director. Good to see a British film getting major awards but I wonder if we’ll see a British film nominated next year after the demise of the UK Film Council.
No real upsets, I think everyone won that was expected too. I wasn’t able to see most of the movies nominated like I usually do, so I have a lot of catching up to do!
I saw about half of the movies that were nominated and I thought the academy was spot-on with the winners they chose.
In my oppinion, David Fincher should’ve won Best Director, not Tom Hooper. Other than this, I’m ok with all the winners.

Glad The Kings Speech and Colin Firth won – I’ve long been a big fan of his and glad he’s now getting the recognition he deseves at last @DebbieWobbs
Didn’t see many of the nominees this year but the ones I did won I’ll go with “excellent job academy!”
I didnt see any of the nominated movies eek! lol I tweeted @pelletposy thanks
It seemed the favorites won – since I haven’t seen any of them I really didn’t have an idea of who SHOULD have won
ALL the nominee’s are worthy of winning. They are part of the best of the year. However personal opinion for me would have David Fincher winning best director for expample.
I love that there wasn’t a sweep of awards by a particular film and that there was 2/3/4 wins to selection of nominees this year. This shows how rich 2010 was for film and they were rewarded.
There were no surprises for me. Was nice that the Oscars were for films I had actually seen, usually they haven’t reached the UK by the time the awards come around
I think they were spot on. @applespice159
Thought it was pretty fair even though I thought David Fincher should have won for Best Director.
I was spot on with all of my choices… except for Best Director. 😦 Thought for sure they’d give it to Fincher.
And in my opinion, Anne and James were great hosts!
All the winners deserved it!
@kimmer211
I was at work and didn’t get to watch it. I haven’t seen Inception yet but it looks amazing. If I were to win that’s what I’d pick. Sorry I don’t have anything insightful to add.
@SickPigeon
Not really surprised although I did think that Fincher was going to win. I thought the nominees were excellent.
@daddytyme
I agree with all of the winners and thought Anne Hathaway would have done a better job hosting by herself. Don’t get my wrong, James Franco is a great actor but hosting, not so much.
No real surprises but HUGE congratulations to the British SFX team including Chris Corbould who worked on the film INCEPTION
@TheBoyNash
I thought they got it right this year, and while I’m not a huge fan of Colin Firth I think he deserved an Oscar for such a wonderful performance.
@Lisa2062
It seems as if they were spot on. I now need to see some more of the winning movies 🙂
So happy the kings speech won it’s a fab film
!! Well deserved. Have to agree with comments on the hosts I’ve a feeling they won’t be asked to do it again purely for the lack of chemistry.
@lorweld
*** I thought the Oscars were fabulous,,,I think Kings Speech was well deserved,,,I think the other winners were very predictable and superb choices,,,,I think Sandra Bullock looked “stunning” in her red gown,,I think Natalie Portmans speech was beautiful,,,@alongcamemary1 Mary =)
I would really like to see The Kings Speech, to know if it is worth all the hype. Hard for me to judge if the right movies won, unless I have seen them all, lol I did expect the ones that won, to win, though.
I thought it was great. Would love to win. we are trying to get a lot of blue rays since we got a machine for Christmas.. Would be thrilled to win.
@pontowd
I want to see Inception. I had not seen many of the movies.
I enjoyed the show myself. The Oscars..Something good is gonna Happen. @Chickster71
All the winners were pretty just in my opinion. Kings Speech and The Fighter were both on my pick list so I was happy for their wins.
No surprizes in the outcome, only disappointment there was the typical nominees. The humbug hosting of James Franco was a bore. Academy go back to leaving the hosting duties to real comics ala Billy Crystal etc Anne Hathaway to her credit was game to giving her duties her best shot. James, a thumbs down.
Thought Inception would get best picture award. The show itself was boring. The commercials were funnier than the live show.
Could have gone either way with Social Network and The King’s Speech.
not a great suprise that the Kings speech won,but Colin Firth deserved it,hope he doesnt carry on to do any old film now
never watched the ceremony ,prefer the british edition
@bospherous
I’ve yet to see any of the movies nominated at the oscars so no comment for now. 🙂
@Chronorayven
All the winners the same ones they expected to win so no surprises at all this time.
@ropes
My two favorite movies were The King’s Speech and The Black Swan, so I think that the Oscar’s were pretty spot on! Inception was also good, but it was my 3rd choice.
Twitter: @tmonterroza
I agreed with most of the winners, although I have no interest in seeing the kings speech at all.
Twitter user name: ScoomerBlog
No unusual winners, no big surprises at this years Oscars. But probably the most surprising thing was that True Grit didn’t win anything out of its 10 nominations.
On Twitter: “mariyssa”
I thought they were all appropriate but others could have won just as well but hence that’s why they are nominated.
It was really surprising that the best films got the awards this year!
RT @cfryer999
I think there was a good balance this year with a very wide variety of film genre. I think it maybe showing people have a great appreciation for smaller budget productions alongside the huge Hollywood blockbusters which should give great inspiration to up & coming producers / directors.
All winners deserved it! I totally just don’t like Anne Hathaway and James Franco as hosts, they don’t click at all 😦
I thought best director award should have gone to Christopher Nolan for his direction of Inception. The movie was totally unique in every way, not to mention the fact that the man nearly created the movie in every aspect himself. Other than that I also thought True Grit would’ve at least won something, that was a great movie. Otherwise everything was spot on.
RT @VeridisQuo1
They went pretty much the way I thought they would, except I thought Amy Adams would win. I am surprised that Mark Walhlberg was overlooked, not that I think he would have beat Colin Firth, but I think he should have been nominated. @hairgirl1966
I thought the choices were ok. I didnt care for either movie but I can imagine it took a lot of work. @ChristenFlowers
I am amazed that Leonardo DiCaprio has given so many great performances but never got the main prize. Why do Hollywood hate him?
My thoughts are bring Billy Crystal back!! @MCJunkie
I didn’t watch The Kings Speech so I can’t really post on that. Was not a movie I wanted to see. I have to say it was very predictable. I would of loved to see the Fighter win more. Inception would of been nice to win the Best Picture. The ladies looked fabulous and the men looked dapper in there tuxes.
pretty disapointed that ‘Toy Story 3’ did not win as much

Spot on Ceremony!! @LucieA79
I thought the choices where good. I loved Inception
@bettyboop0112
For a change, they were spot on! The best Oscars in a while!!
I’ve had years where I was really annoyed by a certain win or loss. This year I was pretty satisfied with all the choices. @Slappy2001
no upsets to me…pretty predictable
Tweeting as @sleatham1
Winners were no surprise…predictable…
tweeting @sleatham1
Awards were spot on! Now if only NIN played!
I agree that there were no surprises this year. I managed to correctly predict 19 of the 24 winners which is better than Roger Ebert’s prediction, as far as I know 😀
@alexstef
There were no upsets at all this year. James Franco was a dud as a co host though.
Twitter: slugbug55
I think they were right on. Fairly predictable for the most part.
Loved the results this year! Tweeted @nikkiopia
They got it spot on this year, couldn’t agree more.
I think they were spot on this year…bravo !!! twitter follower as well : @nutmeg237 🙂
I don’t watch the Oscars often, but like this one very much. Ann Hathaway did a great job with much enthusiasm. After view the Oscars I can’t wait to see “The Kings Speech” and “Inception”.
I was very happy that Inception won but upset True Grit didn’t really get the attention it deserved. Yes! I understand that it’s a remake but come on where is the dignity.
I thought the chocies this year were right on the mark and winners well chosen. In some cases I think it really narrowed down to two contenders and either of those would have been fantastic. As far as the acting nominees are concerned all great performances. Please next year or anytime in the future NO Gywnth Paltrow singing, IMHO the worst moment of an otherwise brillant evening.
I have only seen black swan and thought it was just brilliant (a bit traumatic at times) so happy Natalie Portman won.
@bluekit15 on twitter
forgot to put Twitter ID @RuthMarianna
all the winners were well deserving if a bit predictable
I’m happy to see Inception won last night.
It seems that all of the favorites won – I haven’t seen the movies so don’t know which I would have picked @treetrout1
I agreed with the Awards. I did worry that The King’s Speech wouldn’t make it after all the hype! @beachrambler
I believe that #Inception should have one more awards. It was an excellent movie with a great cast!
Follwing and tweeting @kaflickinger74
Oops, forgot twitter name – nomibcf
I’ve not yet seen The King’s Speech or The Fighter, so I can’t comment on those awards, but I do certainly agree with Natalie Portman winning Best Actress for Black Swan. The film is good, but she was superb, entirely living up to and surpassing the expectations created by her debut in Leon all those years ago.
The Best Animated Feature was a difficult one, any of the 3 would have been a deserving winner, but I was sure Toy Story 3 would win it.
I loved Inception, so am pleased to see it pick up awards for the cinematography, effects and sound, but it’s probably fair that it didn’t win Best Picture.
Nice Prize!! The problem is that with all the hype etc we normally know who is going to win what in advance…..however would love one of the free goody bags they all get!
For the first time I completely agreed with the results…..well done Mr Darcy \o/
I loved the Oscars this year! I think they got it right on!
@colliemomtoo
Well, I agree with most of the choices really – I’m glad Inception won – it’s brilliant! @MySonsSpongeMad on Twitter x
@danielc8 I think doing a film about royalty is a guaranteed oscar nom …. I don’t see why, there is nothing appealing about it, they all look the same …… I would of liked to see inception or the fighter win best picture.
I agree with the King’s Speech doing as well as it did – I didn’t think it would after all the slander in the newspapers, so I’m glad it did well. Well deserved.
I think they were bang on…saw only The Black Swan & The Fighter so far & winners from there were really good & deserving of their Oscar wins..
I think both were well deserved! LOVED inception!
I ALWAYS forget my twitter ID @miriama59
I had a list of predictions and was right on with all of them so no surprises. I will say that for best actor I would have had a very hard time choosing. There were some amazing performances.
I’m glad Melissa Leo won because I have been a fan of hers for many years. And I have to say this…I was very surprised to see how beautiful she is. She picks roles where she underplays her looks…Homicide, Fighter, etc.
No real suprise except Leo and the F bomb. So happy about Black Swan win.
spot on i say. there were many great nominees this year and i think all films nominated, i like (usually there are only a couple i fancy).
Should have added twitter @nemilho
No surprises at all on the night which was a shame.
In my opinion King’s Speech wasn’t the best film, Inception was (but that was never going to win in a million years due to it being sci-fi) and best director should have gone to Social Network. Easy to see why they went with King’s Speech though.
I felt overall they were pretty spot on.Not a lot of bad/unfair choices this year.Thanks
Oscars were great. Just wish Gwenyth Paltrow would stop singing 😦 @born2boop
The winners were no surprises to me. I knew these 2 would win the most awards. They deserved to. Both were amazing movies.
@pizzalogger
I thought the winners were very predictable, it is always more fun when there are surprises. But the winners all gave great performances.
