Blu-ray Monday Giveaway: The Other Guys

[tweetmeme source= “blurayreporter” only_single=false]
With ‘Blue Monday’ officially being the most depressing day of the year, we think its only fitting to offer up a fantastic ‘Blu-ray Monday’ prize to help lighten the mood.

This week we are giving away a copy of action comedy, ‘The Other Guys’ starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

Nerdy detective Gamble (Ferrell) is more interested in pushing pencils than busting bad guys. Alongside hot-headed, trigger happy cop Hoitz (Wahlberg) the pair are forced to bask in the glory of their crime-fighting colleagues, Danson (Dwayne Johnson) and Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson). However when the time comes for Gamble and Hoitz to untangle a web of corporate greed, it turns out the other guys are the only guys for the job.

As usual with Blu-ray Monday, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, simply retweet the following post on Twitter: Tweet this

Then for a second entry, leave a comment on this post to the following question:

The Other Guys features an unlikely professional double act. Until now Wahlberg has typically tackled dramatic roles in films such as ‘The Departed’, ‘Three Kings’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’. Ferrell on the other hand is one of the worlds best loved comic actors taking on lead parts in ‘Elf’, ‘Old School’ and ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’. If you could choose two actors from different backgrounds to make an unlikely but interesting crime-fighting duo, who would you pick and why?

To make it easier for us to contact you, leave your Twitter details with your comment. We look forward to your suggestions!

Tom Hanks and Jim Carrey. Tom Hanks known for comedy and serious roles, however not slapstick or physical comedy, I like to see him take on a more physical role. Jim Carrey known for comedy, I like to see him expand himself and play the serious partner.

  26. 26 iRobotZombie January 20, 2011 at 1:30 pm

    Martin Short and Harrison Ford!
Martin Short is always funny and Harrison Ford is often serious, but he has a dry serious of humor. I think they would make a fab duo!

  32. 32 Blake Matthews January 18, 2011 at 9:35 pm

    Will Smith and Harrison Ford!
    @bwm1138

  33. 33 ChrisPK January 18, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Jean Dujardin, IMO, one the best comedians around, and the overly somber Russell Crowe. It would be a messy clash of cultures and personalities.

  34. 34 Audrey H. January 18, 2011 at 7:18 pm

Clint Eastwood & Robert Downey Jr. Am following & tweeted on twitter @pelletposy Thanks.

  35. 35 SickPigeon January 18, 2011 at 11:56 am

I’d pick Angelina Jolie as the sexy action hero lead role & Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin from Superbad) as the bumbling nerd sidekick secretly in love with Angelina that accidentally gets her out of many sticky situations.

  36. 37 Yvonne Brownsea January 18, 2011 at 9:58 am

I think a fab combo would be Robin Williams – because he is so not your usual crime fighter and he would add a lot of comedy to the duo – and Vin Diesel because he would be quite the opposite in that he’s all muscle and kick ass and would be more serious in fighting crime!

  37. 38 Quanda January 18, 2011 at 1:46 am

I would choose Will Smith and Robert Downey Jr.. They both are great actors and will work well together.

  38. 39 cranepuffin January 17, 2011 at 11:51 pm

I would put together Al Pacino and Chris Rock – and see what happened.

    @cranepuffin

  39. 40 Patty Hancock January 17, 2011 at 10:13 pm

I love Will Ferrell. I didnt get to see this movie in theaters and recently got a blueray player. I would love to win this to watch with my family!

  40. 41 Chalene Weir January 17, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Robin Williams and Wentworth Miller! omg, that would be quite the sight! RW is hillarious and loud/funny whereas Wentworth Miller is shy and reserved! @chalene8

  41. 42 Chronorayven January 17, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Adam Sandler and Jason Statham just to see if Jason can work with adam sandler or kill him . 🙂

  42. 43 Kirsten January 17, 2011 at 6:46 pm

Al Pacino and Seth Rogan. One is an excellent actor known for drama and one is an actor I am finding increasingly funny.

  43. 44 Tina Konegan January 17, 2011 at 6:10 pm

I need something to make me laugh this weather is miserable today!

  44. 45 Yvonne P January 17, 2011 at 5:55 pm

    @StarrMagenta

I’d put Robert Pattinson with Al Pacino – I think they would make a very interesting cop partnership.

  45. 46 Bradley C. January 17, 2011 at 5:33 pm

I would pick Brad Pitt & Johnny Depp. Brad Pitt would be awesome with the seriousness of the character that he played as in “SEVEN”, and with Johnny Depp portraying the more not-so-serious character type that he played as in “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” would make for an excellent gangster/mobster style crime-fighting duo.

  46. 47 Veronica Vasquez January 17, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Forgot to leave my Twitter details.. I’m @ChaoticKarma23 on Twitter

  47. 48 Veronica Vasquez January 17, 2011 at 5:21 pm

Jim Carrey and Michael J. Fox because they are both talented and hilarious actors

  48. 49 Marvin C. January 17, 2011 at 5:15 pm

I think Jim Carrey teamed up with Jason Statham would be an interesting crime-fighing duo because we all know how funny Jim Carrey can be and how ridiculously serious Jason can be so if you throw them together in a movie and see them trying to work together I think it’ll be a hilarious combination.

    Rt’d @VeridisQuo1

  49. 50 Linda Davison January 17, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Would love to win this movie! ♥ Need a funny one! ♥

  50. 51 Ben January 17, 2011 at 5:00 pm

I’d like to see Daniel Day-Lewis and Adam Sandler team up as a world-famous detective team whose only issue is that, occasionally, Adam will start talking gibberish, thus causing Daniel to smash his head open with a bowling pin!

  51. 52 tracy January 17, 2011 at 4:46 pm

i would choose, Wesley Snipes as the Blade charachter and Cameron Diaz as she was on Charlie’s Angels. They seem like an unlikely couple. @tracyparral

  52. 53 Aynslie McKeith January 17, 2011 at 4:44 pm

    Looks a good one – @aynslie70

  53. 54 cindy champion January 17, 2011 at 4:44 pm

Steve carrel and morgan freeman. I just think that would be funny. lol.

  54. 55 Anne M. January 17, 2011 at 4:43 pm

Bruce Willis and Seth Grogan …Willis being the tough guy and Grogan bringing comic relief could make for an interesting pairing…
