Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief is the first of five books by Rick Riordan making up the Percy & the Olympians saga.  Adapted by acclaimed director Chris Columbus for the big screen, the story tells the tale of teenage boy Percy who discovers his father is Greek God of the sea, Poseidon, making Percy half teenager, half God.

Exclusive Blu-ray special features include deleted scenes and BD Live extras, such as a theatrical trailer, an inside look at the film’s casino set and a chat with author Rick Riordan.  Four featurettes add some great context to the film, particularly, ‘Inside Camp Half Blood’, which contains interviews with the director and stars of the film, Logan Lerman and Brendon T. HMV, leading retailer of music and home entertainment, has announced an 11 percent rise in profit this year, driven largely by increased sales of Blu-ray Discs.  In fact, Chief Executive Officer Simon Fox reported that Blu-ray Disc sales have doubled in the last fiscal year.

The increasing sales figures can be directly correlated with the launch of visually spectacular blockbusters such as Avatar, which are the perfect vehicle for high definition viewing.

And, with the launch of Blu-ray 3D, Fox expects Blu-ray Disc demand to escalate even further over the coming years.
